Literacy for early years
Guided Reading Learning Objective Cards
DESCRIPTION
Guided Reading Objectives Cards that can be used with daily guided reading lessons.
I have used these with guided reading groups for many years, and I have found that they are great for keeping the children (and me) focused on what they are learning. They are designed to be used as a weekly focus for each group.
I would normally plan my guided reading and choose an objective dependent on the level of the children in each group.
This is an example of some of my cards - If you find them useful, please check out the others in my shop, which are specifically for emergent and fluent readers
Alphabet and Blend Cards: Activities and Games to Teach Phonics while having Fun
DESCRIPTION
Knowing the sounds that letters make is the backbone of early literacy. Add these cards and games to your literacy programme and see how quickly your students begin to learn their letter sounds and transfer it into their reading and writing.
You will find in this packet an A4-sized alphabet card with letters and fun images that start with matching sounds. The alphabet card shows lowercase and uppercase letters so children can learn to identify and match them.
The included A4 blend card shows double consonant blends with a matching image that starts with the blend. It also shows digraphs (in blue) and tri-blends in red.
This resource pack also contains suggestions for games and ways they can be used in the classroom.
Your students will love playing the games, and you will be amazed at how quickly they learn their alphabet sounds and blends and start to apply them to their reading and writing.
Learning Objective Guided Reading Cards for Beginning Readers
These Guided Reading Cards can be used with groups of students when they are working with you during daily guided reading lessons.
I have used these cards with guided reading groups for many years and found that they are great for keeping the children focused on what they are learning.
At the beginning of the lesson, I read the card for the week with the students and talked about what it would look like when they were doing it. As the students read, I notice when they are demonstrating the skill and bring their attention back to the objective.
I have found these cards really motivating and helpful, and I hope you do, too.
